It is Holiday Team time again! I arrived back in Romania with this team, so I got to jump back in with both feet! Our Boys Transition Director took a much deserved, needed, break so the 6 boys came to spend some time at the Team House as well. So 13 team members, 2 interns, 6 boys, and 3 staff made a fun, filled house. The team thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the boys, and vice versa. The girls from our program and the boys from the Alternative Transition Program, plus more staff joined us daily--so it was a great time.
The Holiday Team gets to hand out lots of presents! It is always fun seeing the kids open the presents and seeing how God works out that they get something that they really need or want.
You might recognize some of these gifts, because they all come from donations from you! Thanks again to all of you that packed presents or donated items or funds so that we can make each of our kids' Christmas special!
The kids are on their vacation from school during this time as well, so we get to spend a lot of free time together. The game of choice, for some of the kids, was mancala. I played many, many games! Cosmin, the boy in this picture, was determined to beat me, and succeeded a few times!
It was fun to see our transition young men and women interact with the kids. They did a great job helping out, carrying boxes of gifts, and giving attention to the kids. Teaching to give back is one of the most fun things that we get to do!
We also visited and handed out gifts, as a special project, a special needs orphanage that is close by. The young man in the center, I've known for many years, and it is fun, if not a bit terrifying, as he sees us arrive, comes running at full steam and picks me up to give me a hug. Visiting this orphanage is always a touching, and humbling experience. I was so proud to see our Transition young men and women interact with these special people. A very proud Mom moment!
I always love the Holiday Team! Thanks for those of you that came to participate! If you couldn't come this year--start planning to join us next year!
